Lesson 10: Biomes
Students will take notes on the PowerPoint to answer the EQ questions. Next students will complete the Biomes Mapping activity and answer questions using spatial analyses and the information they have learned about the physical world. Access the files in the above link section.
Finally, students will work to complete an in-class project: Students will select one of the 50 U.S. states, and choose 2 different biomes to represent the state. The student will then need to explain the differences between the biomes even though they are in the same state. For example, Texas. Texas' Gulf Coast region features the Grassland Savannah region, while west Texas features the Xeric Shrubland biome. Students will then draw and label examples of plants, animals, landforms, rainfall information, and climate information of each region to show each states' diverse biomes.
