Key Points of Lesson
There are 3 Revolutions to remember in this lesson.
The 1st is The Neolithic Revolution. This is when nomads discovered farming 10,000 years ago. This created villages (the basis for civilization), allowed for people to have jobs, and increased human life expectancy.
The next Revolution was the 2nd Agricultural Revolution. This is when mankind moved from small, personal (subsistence) farming to large industrial farms. This helped support the massive movement of people to large cities in the Industrial Revolution.
Finally, beginning in the 1940's the Green Revolution occurred. This was when scientist decided to change the DNA of plants to make them grow better in worse climates. This helped feed the world and has made a major impact on world famine (starvation).
Agribusiness began to occur in the early 1900's. This is the move from family-owned farms to large corporations buying several large farms in order to outsell small time farmers. This has increased agricultural sales, inventions, and technologies, but has hurt small time family owned farms.
